I was delighted with my collaboration with the IntelliMed team. We can see the percentage rating of each tumor on the screen, which aids in determining if a suspicious finding needs further workup. The software shortens radiologists’ reading times and enables quick and safe decision-making that helps us avoid unnecessary recalls and tests for patients. iCAD has developed an excellent high-level technology. As a radiologist, I can say that this is the first AI product I have used that enhances my workflow and I trust the results.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women; however, the chances of survival are constantly increasing, especially thanks to technological advances in medical imaging that are improving screening performances. ProFound AI is fully in line with this desire to constantly improve radiologists’ abilities to detect breast cancer as early as possible. This is why I chose to install the new generation of the ProFound AI solution in my medical imaging center dedicated to breast imaging, in order to offer my patients the best possible care.

Our retrospective study shows that AI has the potential to correctly identify a third of DBT screening exams as having no malignancy or an extremely low likelihood of malignancy. This AI-triaging could help radiologists determine which cases may need more intensive analysis. Our research adds to the growing body of evidence demonstrating the potential value that AI may offer in the clinical setting. Not only may AI algorithms help increase radiologists’ confidence in interpreting DBT studies, it may also help improve reading efficiency.

We have done a thorough evaluation of all of the other available AI technologies for breast imaging, but ultimately we found ProFound AI to be the best solution. With its multi-vendor flexibility, ProFound AI seamlessly integrated into our system and clinical workflow. As technology is advancing and becoming a more integral part of our day-to-day workflow, partnering with organizations that provide a clear advantage in AI technologies, like iCAD, has been a critical focus for our facility in recent years.

After comparing all available options, we felt that iCAD’s technology was simply the best. We needed an AI solution that would allow us to read mammograms from either the Hologic workstation or from the Intelerad® PACS. ProFound AI, which supports multiple output formats, was able to provide that flexibility.

iCAD is definitely continuing to put resources into improving their technology. Over the last year of using ProFound AI in our clinical practice, we’ve seen the technology advance over time, with noticeable improvements for the latest versions compared to its predecessor. Not only has the algorithm itself improved since we adopted it, the formatting has also improved, making it even better for our radiologists.

After a year of using it, I’ve come to an eye-opening realization: ProFound AI is looking at things that we clinicians don’t necessarily recognize as signs of cancer. For example, the technology flagged a few cases last year that didn’t appear visibly as signs of cancer at the time, but when the patient returned this year, there’s definitely a cancer there. We’ve really gotten to trust it, and I am hoping that more of those subtle, obscured lesions will be picked up earlier because of this.

We recently updated our breast screening technology at our facility, and ProFound AI is the icing on the cake. We looked at other AI technologies, but have ultimately found them to be like smoke and mirrors compared to ProFound AI. A game-changing technology, ProFound AI has empowered us to offer world-class, personalized patient care. It is light years ahead of other technologies, which simply cannot measure up. I believe that patients without access to ProFound AI are at a disservice. It has helped make our breast screening program one of the best – not only in the state, but also the world.
