ProFound AI is a game changer. Other AI technologies for DBT seem like smoke and mirrors when compared with ProFound AI. It is clearly the most advanced technology of its kind on the market. Reducing false positives and callbacks is a huge benefit, not only to our patients but to our technologists and radiologists. iCAD’s ProFound AI solution has had a significant impact on our workflow. We are able to immediately react if we see something suspicious in a scan alleviating anxiety for our patients. Using the solution will allow us to expand DBT beyond diagnosis because it enables our radiologists to read as many tomosynthesis cases as we currently read with 2D mammography. I consider ProFound AI to be one of the greatest tools in modern radiology.

This leading-edge algorithm was designed to provide physicians with crucial information about a woman’s short-term risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer, so that they may further personalize her screening and surveillance plan. This may include screening frequency adjustment, supplemental imaging, genetic testing and/or risk reduction strategies. Ultimately, the goal of this technology is to enhance efficiency for clinicians and improve outcomes for patients.

Models that accurately predict an individual woman’s risk of developing breast cancer are paramount to transitioning from age-based screening to risk-based screening. Most current risk models are population-based and focus on lifetime or long-term risk. Our research using the iCAD AI technology has shown that by simply using the information available in the mammogram images, we can more accurately stratify women based on short-term risk. Understanding short-term risk will open the door to new paradigms in both the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Adopting ProFound AI was a seamless process that offered immediate benefits to our radiologists and patients, and we have gained additional efficiencies since then.

When it comes to AI, iCAD was the first in the game. Although AI itself is still in its infancy, iCAD is ahead of other companies that are just now entering the market of breast AI. Additionally, the data supporting ProFound AI speaks for itself. After looking at reader studies for other AI solutions, we were not as confident that what they were offering was as robust as iCAD’s technology. Other AI solutions are essentially a black box attached to each gantry, and there is a significant cost per gantry. ProFound AI operates on just one centralized server, which streamlined and accelerated the integration process.

We decided to adopt ProFound AI because we felt it was the best product available to provide valid CAD markers on DBT. We also found iCAD’s other breast AI solutions enticing, such as PowerLook Density Assessment and ProFound AI Risk, as technologies we would like to assess.

ProFound AI has provided noticeable efficiency improvements for us already. It gives me the confidence that I’m looking at the appropriate slices, or images. And using the Case Scores, we are now able to help decipher mammograms with very low likelihood of containing an abnormality from one that might require further evaluation. I’ve learned to trust ProFound AI. We found a couple cases where ProFound AI helped the radiologist find a subtle area of distortion that might have been easily overlooked. And these are clearly abnormalities on the synthetic view that you would never see, so it has certainly helped improve our performance and accuracy as well.
